Pluris Southgate, Inc., the private utility company responsible for water and sewer service to Forest Lakes, recently proposed a rate increase to the county. Though the county initially rejected this proposal, Pluris appealed their decision.
While Pluris awaits response to their appeal, they have decided to proceed with the implementation of their proposed rate increase, and recently sent notice of their intent to do so.
For most of us, it will represent an increase of $6.92/month in the readiness to serve fee portion of our bills. If you use more than 12,000 gallons a month, expect a per gallon increase for consumption beyond that amount.
The rate increase was effective August 5th. The notice gave no indication of when the appeal may be settled, but Pluris has posted a bond to repay customers if the rate increase denial is upheld.
As a side note, their expected completion date of the sewer main project down Brookhaven and Seaview is February 2022.
